From the designer:
This helmet design came about because several local guys wanted helmets but didn't like what was available on the market because they were too expensive, too heavy, too hot, too uncomfortable, and often too unreliable (I can relate to that as I repair alot of PPG helmets and its amazing how often the wires and mics break on several of the popular models.)
This helmet is super simple, it is a Bell bicycle helmet that you can buy at Walmart that has had a particular brand and type of earcup riveted to it. The earcup was chosen to provide easy installation, good noise reduction (26dB NRR) and also have ample room inside for speakers, PTT switches, and electronics (Nickovoxes installed in the earcup in the Music Com version).
Overall, it is a lightweight, good looking, cool, inexpensive helmet that provides good noise reduction and good radio performance in both the transmit and receive directions.
This helmet is available in two radio versions:
- 2 jack connector for VHS (two-meter ham radios like Yaesu)
- 1 micro jack for FRS (Family Radio System like Radio Shack)
Select your helmet:
- Paradrome Com Helmet - Ideal low cost communications helmet.
- Paradrome Music Com Helmet - Nicovox Music Mixing System installed with Full Stereo speakers, PTT on left earcup, boom microphone, lightweight and comfortable.
